Lesson 10, Northern Magic Series, “Seith Magic”

Please read Chapter 10 “Seith Magic” in the book Northern Magic by Edred Thorsson pages 169 – 181. Then cut and paste these questions below, add your answers, and email to the
Mystery School with “Northern Magic Lesson 10 from _____________” in the subject heading.

1. In many ways the practice of seith is identical to what other practice?

2. Traditional seith rests on three pillars. Name them.

3. What is Soothsaying?

4. What is the difference between Rune Work and Soothsaying?

Exercise:

5. Re-read the exercise on pages 173-175 and then the Sitting Out Rite and if you are comfortable with it take the journey to meet your warden (guardian or fetch). Remember to follow the guidelines, and do not journey anywhere obscure. Do as the book states, and stay in the realms of light. Also, if you can’t get to a mountain top or graveyard, don’t sweat it. The modern seith practitioner is flexible, so if you have to do this inside, then make the best of it with incense or scented oils, and whatever else you can think of to make the ritual special. Your fetch will appear to you in your mind’s eye.

Relay your experience to the mystery school. Though feel free to keep the identity of your fetch secret.
