Trial VI: REPENTANCE to show humility. The real meaning of the word “repent” as used in the bible, metanoia, is “turn away” or change direction. “Turn away” from the outward path, go within. Templars are asked to repent. Turn away from worldly desires and mistakes you have made. Change your direction from going without to going within…. where the Kingdom of Heaven is….
In a moment when you see the red colored instructions, you will be asked to lie face down, arms outstretched before your altar. You will lie down symbolically on the floor of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre right before Yeshua’s empty tomb, the place they laid him, the place the shroud was found folded up neatly — as Yeshua left it.
Luke 24:12
Then arose Peter, and ran unto the sepulchre; and stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves
John 20: 5-7
Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie
And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself.
Indeed it was Yeshua who first folded the Shroud of Turin and folded the Sudarium face “napkin”. He folded the Shroud into what became known as the Mandylion, only showing the face. You are about to lie down for a few moments and contemplate those folded “graveclothes”, the facecloth Sudarium and long linen shroud. Lie there as long as you like, try to feel the cool smooth black and white marble stone tiles before the Sepulchre’s entrance. You should also contemplate “repentance” — turning away. Here you go to lie down now, contemplating three things:
- cool smooth black and white tiles
- turning away from the world and going to the Kingdom within (repenting)
- the folded graveclothes of the Master
